There was a time when harmony was insured among the elements, all around the Earth, by an ancient entity, Anjä.
But this was before humankind thought it knew better and disrupted this harmony.
Why Lost elements
Global warming is a complicated concept, often poorly explained by the media.
But what if there was a way for the young adults to apprehend this phenomenon a little bit better, and feel concerned about it ?
What is it
Lost Elements is an iPad puzzle game, where your actions have more consequences than you would imagine. You will help Anjäw restaure balance between nature and humankind, with the relic that she gave you to use with great care.
You can access the infos about each facts that we alluded to hroughout the game below
The river was clogged because the land was too dry, too low on minerals and flora, and became impermeable. This lead to heavy floods downstream that brought high quantities of mud and silt in water storages (which can happen to wells, deltas or river mouths, as well as coastal areas outside of the dry zones).
Another consequence is the progressive lowering of the water table, which leads to completely draining the soils dry, and to land subsidence.
To remedy desertification, one must control the flow of water and try to foster infiltration towards the water table (usually through adding a rocky cord). Revitalizing the soils (through the use of compost) is also necessary. pH corrections can be needed. Another possibility is reforestation, which consists in planting xerophilous trees and saplings (i.e. plants that can grow and thrive with low water availability.
This platform is a little bit different from the other. Inside this water table, there is no puzzle to solve on it, but it shows the result of what you did on the previous one.
You can acknowledge your doing, being the fact that you managed to fill the water table that allowed all the plants above to grow back.
Each chapter, you are rewarded with a new element, putting it back inside the relic, and learning how to use it conscienciously.
Since we exploited the same principles throughout this whole level, you might understand why the land is so dry. But how come you have a lake on one side, and not on the other?
Well, filling the river and the water table earlier created this one lake, but there wasn’t any connection to the other side yet. By creating a river, the flora has been able to grow back in here too, letting you use the raft and finish the level.
Being a back and forth between reality and fantasy, we obviously simplified those processes. It usually takes at least ten year before any of those techniques has any long lasting effect, and you only have the elements to help you, which probably wouldn’t suffice in real life, but are enough to make you wonder, curious, and learn some true facts.
